OIE Statement Regarding Title IX Regulations

On Friday, April 19, 2024, the U.S. Department of Education released new Title IX regulations, which will become effective on August 1, 2024. The regulations and their Preamble comprise more than 1500 pages, which OIE and other campus partners are carefully reviewing to assess the impact on our existing policies and practices.  As we gain a greater understanding of the mandatory and discretionary components of these new federal regulations, we will be engaging our community on potential changes to Duke’s Policy on Prohibited Discrimination, Harassment, and Related Misconduct, grievance procedures, and any other impacted policies and practices.

The unpublished version of the new regulations is available online at https://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ocr/docs/t9-unofficial-final-rule-2024.pdf.

If you would like to share any insights or feedback with OIE, please e-mail titleIX@duke.edu.
