Black History Month 2023
Black History Month is an annual commemoration of the accomplishments made by African Americans and an opportunity to acknowledge their key role in American history. Since 1976, every president of the United States has proclaimed February as Black History Month with an associated theme. The 2023 theme, "Black Resistance," examines how African Americans have opposed the many forms of historical and contemporary oppression, which includes "the racial terrorism of lynching, racial pogroms, and police shootings."
