Tension, frustration, impatience—though nothing new when trying to maintain a healthy work-life balance, these things have transformed into acute sticking-points with coworkers during the pandemic. In this article by Amy Gallo for the Harvard Business Review, she discusses how the pandemic has changed our stress threshold due to the abnormal levels of uncertainties we face daily and how “in stressful situations our compassion goes out the window.” When dealing with our coworkers, she offers several ways to look at things in a more positive light, accept others’ differences, be more open to diverse interpretations, acknowledge our own feelings, adapt to coworkers’ merging of home and work lives, and remember that suffering is not comparable or a competition.
