Fall 2025 DEN Meeting

The fall meeting of the Duke Equity Network (DEN) will feature a conversation with Joseph Blocher, Lanty L. Smith ’67 Distinguished Professor of Law & Senior Associate Dean of Faculty and H. Timothy Lovelace, John Hope Franklin Research Scholar & Professor of Law. Professors Blocher and Lovelace will provide a historical context for important legal decisions from Brown v. Board of Education to Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard.

Their aim will be to help us understand the ripple effects of these decisions and contemplate the current challenges higher education is facing related to recent executive orders, legal decisions, and guidance. During this dynamic time, we are motivated to understand the implications of changing interpretations of the law and how they impact our ability to advance the mission of the university. There will be ample time for discussion and questions.

Following the conversation with Professor Blocher and Professor Lovelace, there will be a presentation on the University’s Inclusive Excellence platform during which you will also have the opportunity to ask questions about the implementation of specific aspects of this work in your units.
