Climate 101: Noticing Change in a Garden

Speaker

Katie Rose Levin, International Society of Arboriculture board certified master arborist

A garden is a place for observing and tracking seasonal change, which makes it an excellent place to learn about the effects of climate change on plants and animals. Do you wonder, outside of natural disasters, how climate change is impacting you and what you can do about it? Katie Rose Levin, International Society of Arboriculture board certified master arborist, will review some of the science behind climate change and explain how it is impacting Durham. We'll then go into the garden to notice the effects of climate change, meet plants that are moving in (and out!) of this area and talk about how we can plant gardens for the future. Meet inside the Doris Duke Center. Look for the related program Climate 101: Planning for Change in a Garden on October 27. Fee: $16; 20% discount for Duke Gardens members with discount code. Registration is at https://rsvp.duke.edu/g1nKqO. Parking fees apply ($2/hr.). Information: 919-668-1707, gardenseducation@duke.edu
